Meet Clark Willis- Niman Ranch Lamb RancherClark Willis is a third generation sheep rancher that has been selling lambs to Niman Ranch since December of 2000. The Willis Family Ranch was founded in 1865 when Clark’s grandfather, George Willis arrived as the first settler in the area now known as Laketown, Utah. Located at the south end of Bear Lake, the Willis ranch supports a flock of 1200 ewes. The ranch produces most of the feedstuffs (hay and barley) to support their flock and feed their lambs. The Willis Ranch is also a commercial farm that grows raspberries for Salt Lake City markets. The Willis ewe flock grazes U.S. Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and private lands in the Bear Lake area. The Willis Ranch is currently in the middle of a rangeland restoration project. Clark’s work advocating for sustainable ranching production earned him the 2005 NRCS Cooperator of the Year Award for Rangeland and Farm Improvements. Niman Ranch is proud that Clark Willis supplies us lamb. He serves his community and manages his operation to the high standards comparable to the high quality lamb he raises.
