Grilling the Perfect Steak
May 25, 2023Summer is here and that means sunshine, shorts, chasing fireflies, farm fresh produce, and, best of all, grilling! Whether you’re a seasoned pro or could use a few tips, we have everything you need to know about grilling the perfect steak.

Before you get started, gather everything you’ll need while grilling – utensils, plates, meat thermometer, timer – because once you get started, you’ll want to focus on cooking that perfect steak.
Remove your steaks from the refrigerator and allow them to come to room temperature for up to 40 minutes. This will help you achieve the perfect internal temperature.
- Set your grill to high heat and allow to pre-heat, usually 15 minutes.
- Pat all sides of the steak dry with a paper towel and season with salt and pepper.
- Place the steaks on the grill and close the lid.
- Cook for the chart below for your desired doneness.
- For a perfect finish, use a thermometer to measure the internal temperature of your steaks. Remove the steaks from the heat when the thermometer reads 5°F lower than desired temperature.
Allow meat to rest 10 minutes before serving. The temperature will continue to rise 5°F.
Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!
| Doneness | Approx. Minutes Per Side | Internal Temperature |
| Medium Rare (warm red center) | 5 | 145° |
| Medium (hot pink center) | 6 | 160° |
| Medium Well (brown center) | 7 | 170° |
